Kate Atwood is a founder, philanthropist, and creative leader. About Kate's Club

Kate Atwood is the visionary Founder of Kate's Club, a community for children, families, and young adults navigating life after the death of someone close to them.

 

At 22, Kate founded Kate's Club to create a safe space where grieving children could connect and grow through the grief experience. Kate's personal experience of losing her mother at the age of 12 led her to recognize first-hand the essential support and sense of belonging that is crucial for young people facing grief, an element missing from her adolescent journey. 

 

What started with taking six kids bowling, Kate's Club today serves tens of thousands of children and families in communities throughout Georgia and beyond. As its Founder and Advisory Board Chair, Kate remains unwaveringly committed to the Club's mission and vision to build a world where it is okay to grieve. She is a passionate advocate and a frequent speaker on childhood bereavement. Her impactful TEDx talk, "It's time we reframe grief for children," has garnered widespread attention and appreciation.

 

Throughout her career, Kate has graced numerous high-profile media platforms and stages. She has received numerous accolades, including being awarded the National Children's Rights Inspiration Award and the Philanthropic Leader of Tomorrow Award by the National Association of Fundraising Professionals. In a crowning achievement, Kate's Club was honored with the U.S. Surgeon General Medallion in 2023, the nation's highest civilian award in health.
